Do Boys Prefer Girls Who are Less Competent?

“Competence would make girls less attractive.” “Boys like girls who are inferior to them.”

Are these statements true?

Two years ago, a male friend of mine expressed these sentiments, concerned about my lack of a boyfriend for many years. He even advised against publishing this blog, fearing it might impact potential relationships.

His opinion held weight, given that he had a girlfriend at the time, unlike me. Additionally, it seemed credible as he had more romantic experience.

However, he is not the only one with this perspective.

In Japan, there is a belief that female students at Tokyo University, the most prestigious university in Japan, might struggle to find partners. Some Japanese men even claim they prefer not to marry women who earn more money than them.

Do Girls’ Efforts Go Unnoticed?

If boys prefer girls who are inferior to them, one may wonder about the purpose of girls putting effort into self-improvement.

This idea seems to undermine the efforts of all the girls striving to become their ideal selves, including myself.

Should girls pretend to be inferior to boys to be loved? Should they not focus too much on their careers to get married early? Can’t they have both?

Are girls’ efforts incompatible with their happiness?

It all seems so unfair.

I am here to challenge these outdated values and empower girls.

Stay Being You

It has been two years since that incident occurred. I found myself grappling with a dilemma: the desire to grow in various aspects clashed with the yearning for a potential romantic relationship. While I continued striving to become my ideal self, his words lingered in my mind, casting doubt on the purpose of my efforts.

However, I eventually met my current boyfriend, who loves me as I am.

He often tells me, “Thank you for being you.”

In his eyes, there is no sense of inferiority or superiority.

This experience made me realize that I don’t have to change who I am to be loved by someone.

If any boy doesn’t appreciate girls who are superior to him, it’s not worth worrying about.

Stay being you. Someone who truly deserves you will come into your life.

You can live life on your terms and still be loved by your significant other.

ある男友達に「男の子は何も考えてなさそうな、無知でチワワみたいな女の子が好きやと思うで」と言われました！！

ショックだった！

賛否両論あるとは思いますが、、私も何となくそうなんじゃないかとは思う節は度々あったので納得しました。

「マジョリティはそうやろな」という他の男性からの意見もいただいたので、

頑張る女の子の皆！悲しいけど、チワワ女子受け良いんじゃない問題は現実らしいです。

でもだからといってチワワのふりして生きたり

なりたい自分になるために頑張ることをやめることはできないよね。

他人の為に人生を生きているわけじゃないし、、

東大女子はモテないとか（私東大女子じゃないけど汗）

仕事頑張りすぎると婚期逃すとか聞くけど

女の子に生まれたってだけで、努力が幸せを遠ざける世界って悲しすぎるから。

私がそんな世界変えてやりたいなあ　って思いました。

実際少しずつだけど、女性の社会進出も進んできて、

ここ最近「頑張る女の子」を応援するメディアだったり、スクールだったりもよく目にするようになりました。

具体的に私に何ができるかは今のところ全然分からないけど、

将来自分の子供が生まれた時

その子が女の子でも男の子でも

幸せに生きられる世界をつくってあげられるようになりたいです。

    I complete disagree with him. I believe that intelligent, strong, and independent women are extremely attractive. Their stories are admirable and it is really fun to talk with them.

    As for a relationship, I believe that the ideal/dream relationship is when both can share the burden, support each other through thick and thin, share their achievements in life and career. Seeing a partner succeed is what really moves me

    • Hello. Thank you for your comment. It’s been more than 1 year since I wrote this blog(I hadn’t posted it on the webpage yet). Now, I have a boyfriend who admires my ambitiousness and capableness. He embraces me all. I realized that I don’t have to change myself to be loved by somebody. I found out that I can live the way I want and be loved by my significant other as well.
      As for my role model, I don’t have a complete role model, but “AK English”, a Japanese woman who founded a study abroad agency in Canada, inspired me a lot in terms of a can-do attitude and English acquisition.

    • For now, I don’t have any problems about plagiarism. Maybe I just haven’t found it though. To prevent content from being stolen, you can mention your concern about it in your article. So you can let people know your content can not be copied. It’s kind of an obvious solution, but this is all that I could come up with.

    • Thanks! It’s been 2 years since I started blogging. I started with a more personal one than this “TARUSOPHY”. At that time, it was more like a diary to just my close friends. I created this website last February just before going to Canada. It’s almost 1 year! I’m proud of myself for starting all this journey that let us connect.
